After the success of the System 600 Keysystem, ATEA designed the successor, a system 800, which has been manufactured from 1964 up to 1979. More then 2 million phones have been delivered to customers. The 800 system used thermoplastics as the main component for the body. The phone existed of many electrommechanical pieceparts. After finishing his lifecycle on Atea, a factory has been setup by GTE in Brasil for production for the local market.
This particular phone is a 849: An 800 system with 4 exchange line and 10 local lines (including this one, 9 others). Typical colors were grey or black.
I obtained this phone from my friend Stefan Biesemans.
