ATEA had, especially after World War II, a long tradition
in electromechanical key systems such as system 600 and system 800. In the
mid-1970s an electronic system was conceived as a successor to the 600 and the
800: the 8000 system.
In contrast to earlier generations, there was now a central cabinet, to which
the phones were connected with a four-wire connection.
The latest electronic developments were used such as custom chips, and reed
relays for switching. Also the styling of the phone was
"state of the art" in the 1970s.
This particular phone is of the second generation with a "raised" keypad, as the
first generation had mechanical keys that sometimes got stuck.
I obtained this phone from my
friend Stefan Biesemans.
